Wear Plate
Replaceable steel plate designed to absorb abrasion and protect the main structure of an attachment.
Wear plates are sacrificial steel components bolted or welded to high-wear areas of excavator attachments. They extend the operational life of buckets, crushers, and other tools by absorbing abrasion that would otherwise damage the main structure.
Types of wear plates:
- **Floor wear strips**: Protect bucket floor during loading
- **Side wear plates**: Protect bucket sidewalls
- **Heel plates**: Protect the rear cutting edge area
- **Cheek plates**: Protect areas near teeth adapters
Material choices:
- Standard structural steel (S355) for light applications
- Hardox 400 for general wear resistance
- Hardox 450/500 for quarry and demolition
Wear plates should be inspected regularly and replaced before wear penetrates to the main structure. Most Sieruta buckets feature bolt-on wear plates for easy field replacement.
